REPOST: December 8, 2005
Because of some migration issues related to Hurricane Katrina, several of my blog entries got zapped. I'm reposting them:

My last post was in August, just before DFRWS in New Orleans. So DFRWS 2005 did indeed go well...
And then Hurricane Katrina struck and things changed forever. I've been in Austin, TX for the last three months and will return to New Orleans on December 13th. The Lakeview house is totally destroyed. The garden is beyond destroyed. We left with about 3 changes of clothes and the music collection--that's about what is left after Katrina was finished with the houses. But we know that every
one in our families and closest circle of friends are "fine" (in the sense that they are alive and accounted for) and well, that's quite a gift.
On the digital forensics front:
While I was in Austin I taught several classes for computer security/operating systems courses in the CS department. I also gave an invited lecture series on digital forensics that was very well attended and seemed to be well received.
UT Austin is a fine school and I've enjoyed my stay in Austin immensely.
And so we'll see how things go from here.
